Thank you for coming to my new blog! I have to admit…I generally don’t read blogs, at least not until recently. Until a little over two months ago I was too busy with my job to read blogs or ever consider writing my own, but after leaving my job, and with some encouragement from my friends, here I am.
In my new semi-retired life I have discovered a renewed interest in cooking. I always liked to cook, but after 8-9 hours at a high stress job, I really hated to come home and figure out what to cook for dinner…sound familiar? My weekends were taken up by errands, household chores, and an attempt to spend time with friends and family…and I tried to get some much needed rest. In the winter I might spend a snowy Sunday making meals for the week, but rarely. And I hated grocery shopping!
I’ve been on a weight loss plan for a little over nine months, so I thought this would be a good time to start cooking again to help me lose more and faster. As I began this new adventure, I started talking to my friends about cooking. The more I talked to them, especially those who don’t cook, the more I realized that one reason cooking is such a drag for them is they never had time to find recipes or plan menus, which meant they didn’t have the right food on hand. They were like me…they would go to the grocery store and pick up the old standards, come home and get carry-out. Then at the end of the week, clean out the refrigerator to get rid of the food that spoiled because it wasn’t used…and then start the process all over again. So I thought, since I’m planning menus and creating shopping lists each week for myself, why not share them? And why not on a blog? Plus I could try the recipes, make sure they work as described, and provide nutrition information…even calculate Weight Watchers Points. I would enjoy it…now…and I could help others at the same time. I know there are lots of other blogs out there doing the same, but you have to find them and that takes time…hopefully one of my friends will help you find this one!
Bravo. You can get advertising like mark Culpepper does.
